A visit to Greece isn’t complete without a visit to Athens. The capital of Greece holds thousands of years of history, something you can’t miss during your visit. On the contrary, close to the traces of ancient buildings, there is also a hipper area: Koukaki. This vibrant neighborhood is the perfect spot to be your base in Athens. We stayed in a modern apartment from Urban Stripes, and in this blog, we tell you why it’s a perfect place to stay.
Urban Stripes Athens is a collection of modern apartments in a ‘polykatoikia’ as they say in Greece (an apartment building). All the apartments are different from each other, so there will be a perfect fit for everyone. They are equipped with all the necessities you’ll need. The location is perfect, you can discover most of the must-sees by walking and there is a metro station close by. On the ground floor, you can find the reception, with a very friendly man who can tell you all about Athens, the must-sees, and the area.
The Acropolis Suite
During our 3 night stay at Urban Stripes, we were accommodated in the Acropolis Suite. Located on the 5th floor we had a great view of the Acropolis from the balcony and our windows. The room is very light but still private. It is super spacious and has a comfy bed, a lounge, a kitchenette, and a modern bathroom.
The Neighborhood: Koukaki
Urban Stripes is located in Athens’ hippest neighborhood called Koukaki. It’s quiet and vibrant together at once. It’s only a short walk from the most famous attraction of Athens: The Acropolis. The area is very popular among locals which makes it less touristy. The best part is the pedestrian streets Olympiou and Drakou, which are filled with cafes and restaurants with cozy terraces. In the area, you can also find Philopappos Hill, which provides an epic view over the Acropolis.
The spacious room we stayed in had all the facilities we needed. A comfy bed, airconditioning, a kitchenette with refrigerator, a big tv, wifi, and views over the Acropolis! They also delivered breakfast to our room at a time in the morning of our choosing which was perfect!
