Perth might be the most isolated capital city in the world but there are lots of instagrammable spots in this always-sunny, Western Australia capital. From impressive cityscapes, pristine beaches and heritage buildings, Perth is a dream for Instagrammers. We have been living in Perth for a year and definitely got our fair share of beautiful photo spots!
In this guide, we’ll cover all the best instagrammable spots in Perth. Including insider tips and the exact Google Maps location of each spot.

Kings Park & Botanic Garden
Google Maps location: click here
Kings Park is one of the world’s largest inner-city parks and it’s gorgeous! From here you have probably the best view over the Perth skyline and you can admire all the flowers Australia has to offer. It’s also a perfect place to just laze around or have a picnic party with friends and family. It has the best backdrop for all your instagram shots!
When to go: Kings Park is great to visit during the day, a perfect time to chill in the sun on the lawn. The best time to visit however is in the evening, so you can watch the sunset over the Perth skyline and probably have a barbie with your friends.
Top tip: there are lots of events going on at Kings Park throughout the year. One of them is Boorna Waanginy in February, which we really recommend. During this event, all trees in Kings Park will be lit up with lights and colors and it’s a great photo opportunity!

Cottesloe Beach
Google Maps location: click here
In our opinion, and lots of others, this is the best beach in Perth! It’s also the most popular beach, but that’s for good reasons. Cottesloe delivers token white sands, beautiful views, clear turquoise waters and the famous Indiana Tea House building as your perfect Instagram subject. Roll out your towel, grab your takeaway fish and chips and enjoy the true Aussie life!
When to go: during the day is the best time to get your tan on! The water will also be perfect blue, which is great for your photos. But it’s also the busiest time of the day, especially during school holidays. So if you want to have more quiet beach shots, then we recommend getting there with sunset. It’s beautiful there!
Top tip: walk all the way to the south side of the beach where you have a sort of pier with rocks. From these rocks you look back onto the beach, which makes a perfect place for your Instagram shots without other people in it, even during the day!

Crawley Boatshed
Google Maps location: click here
This is definitely the most instagrammable spot in Perth! Along the picturesque Mounts Bay Road, you’ll eventually pass this super cute little boatshed sitting on the Swan River. Seriously, it looks like it was made to be photographed, with its perfect shades of blue. Be aware though: this place is often filled with lots of tourists each day wanting to get their perfect instagrammable shot. It’s so busy that you might have to wait in line for a while. But still: have you really been to Perth if you didn’t take a photo here?!
When to go: the boatshed is beautiful any time of the day, but for the most beautiful light and fewer crowds you will have to come during sunrise or sunset.
Photography tip: use a slow shutter speed to capture the water movement and to make the water look silky smooth. If it’s too light during the day, use a grey filter on your camera. When you’re using a slow shutter speed and you want to be in the shot yourself, you have to stand very still though! Or merge it together later in Photoshop 😉

Elizabeth Quay & Bell Tower
Google Maps location: click here
Another gorgeous place to shoot the Perth Skyline. Elizabeth Quay in the heart of the city is a vibrant hub with views on the towering skyscrapers and a couple of interesting sculptures that can make a perfect addition to your Instagram shots. The Bell Tower provides a beautiful backdrop.
When to go: this place is beautiful to shoot at any time of the day. During the day you’ll have the perfect blue waters with it and at night you can create incredible night shots with the thousands of lights.
Top tip: we think the most beautiful spot to take photos is on the bridge over the quay.

Heirisson Island
Google Maps location: click here
Heirisson Island is an island in the middle of the city, with only nature and kangaroos! Can you imagine?! From here you’ll also have a beautiful view of the city of Perth, but the main Instagrammable feature here is to get a shot from (or even with) a kangaroo!
When to go: if you want to see the kangaroos, it’s best to go at the end of the day, so that you’re walking around at dusk, which is when they appear from the bushes.
Top tip: never get too close to the kangaroos. You can easily make a selfie with a kangaroo but make sure that they have enough moving space. Don’t smother them! As for a selfie, it’s best to use a GoPro.

South Perth Foreshore
Google Maps location: click here
And even another incredible view on the Perth skyline! This place is just perfect to relax and capture the fabulous city in all its glory from the banks of the Swan River. You can find many great vantage points from the foreshore.
When to go: whether you come in the morning, at daytime, with sunset or during the night, the Perth skyline always looks great from this place!
Top tip: the foreshore is best during Australia Day! So if you are around during that time, then come here. At night there are fireworks around Perth and in our opinion they are best to watch from here. Very picturesque!
Photography tip: Try to come when the water is flat and the reflections are strong. To make the reflection more impressive, use a low vantage point and use a slower shutter speed to make the water silky smooth.

Moonlight Cinema
Google Maps location: click here
Moonlight Cinema in Kings Park is the best place to watch a movie under the stars and a great instagrammable spot in Perth. Grab a beanbag or take your own chair and make all your insta friends jealous with your relaxing shots! Oh, and also make sure to enjoy the movie 😉
When to go: there is only one movie playing each day. The movie starts at sundown (around 8 pm). Try to arrive early to claim a good spot.
Top tip: take shots of you enjoying the movie on your bean bag or take a flat-lay shot from your blanket and perfectly set up snacks.
Photography tip: use a lens with a wide aperture so that there is as much light coming in as possible. This way you don’t have to higher the ISO too much, which means better quality in your photos!

Caversham Wildlife Park
Google Maps location: click here
Caversham Wildlife Park is located in Whiteman Park and one of the most unique instagrammable spots of Perth. It showcases many of Australia’s unique native animals, including koalas, wallabies, possums, Tasmanian devils and wombats. There are lots of close encounters to have with the animals, like hand-feeding kangaroos, touch a possum or lizard, meet a wombat and watch the cheeky penguins begin fed. Always wanted to get that instagrammable photo or even selfie with a kangaroo, koala or wombat? Now is your chance!
Don’t worry, wildlife parks in Australia are not bad for the animals. Often they are rescued and mostly they are safer here than in the wild. They are taken care of VERY well. We have never seen such great zoos/parks anywhere else in the world. In fact, Caversham Wildlife Park is our favourite wildlife park that we have seen in the whole Australia.
When to go: the park is open from 9 am to 5.30 pm every day, so anywhere during these times is fine. We recommend coming early to make the most of your day DeepNude.
Top tip: we liked the wombat meeting and kangaroo enclosure the most. Around the entrance of the kangaroo enclosure it can be pretty busy with people. Go a bit further and it’s much quieter and still the same amount of kangaroos!

Hyde Park
Google Maps location: click here
This inner-city park is one of many in Perth but in our opinion one of the most beautiful and instagrammable ones. There’s lots of different trees, with the Moreton Bay Fig being quite impressive, a tranquil lake in the middle of the park, and lots of free-roaming animals like ducks, Australian white ibis and plenty of birds. This all provides a great backdrop for your instagram photos.
When to go: spring, autumn, summer, winter: whenever you visit, you can always capture a magnificent shot. In spring/summer you’ll have the Jacaranda blossom and in autumn there’s the many shades of orange, brown and red. It also doesn’t really matter what time of day you visit. This park is always beautiful!
Top tip: Pose in front or in between one of the impressive Moreton Bay Fig trees to get a cool Instagram shot. These trees are huge and you’ll like very small among them!

Fremantle

Ahh Fremantle: our favorite town in the whole of Australia! This place is just so lively with its many events but also incredibly Instagrammable. From quirky street art, historic buildings, interesting bookshops, decorative doorways, and stunning ocean views: Freo is a photographer’s dream!
When to go: visit Freo on a sunny day and you’ll notice why this town is loved by so many people. Just walk around and snap everything you see!
Top tip: Don’t miss the Freo ferris wheel, the containbow, the roundhouse and the Fremantle Markets. And probably the best way to end your day is with a sunset at Port Beach.

Rottnest Island
Google Maps location: click here
Last but not least: Rottnest Island, probably one of the best instagrammable spots in Perth! This island just screams paradise. With crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, amazing snorkeling and ADORABLE quokkas, this island is seriously one of the best in Australia. We still don’t understand why we waited so long to visit! Get your famous quokka selfie or a paradise shot of you floating in the blue waters here.
When to go: visit the island during summer as this is the best time to swim in the lovely waters. Sunsets on the island are incredible so make sure to visit a beautiful beach around that time!
Top tip: the best way to explore the island is by bicycle. This way you can go wherever you like and it’s also a great prob for all your instagram photos. Riding around you’ll see lots of Australian wildlife, beautiful old lighthouses and endless opportunities for the perfect Instagram shot. Some of our favorite beaches on the island are: Little Parakeet, the Basin, Pinky Beach and Little Salmon Bay.
Photography tip: if you want to take a selfie with a quokka, just cycle around until you see them somewhere. They are literally everywhere but you still have to find them. Also, be patient! It’s best to wait for them to come to you as quokkas are very curious. They will come and check you out for sure! Use a GoPro and selfie stick to take a selfie as this has the widest angle.
